Suddenly, you spy a suspiciously empty table. Thanking your lucky stars, you sit down, failing to notice a packet of tissue sitting innocuously on the tabletop. Nope, that little packet of tissue is not given to patrons for free or left behind by a forgetful diner. The consequences are dire. Chope a table with your own packet of tissue DON’T: Before lighting up, take a good look at your surroundings. Smoking is prohibited in most public areas, on bridges, hospital outdoor compounds and even within 5 metres of a bus stop. We recommend only smoking in designated smoking areas, just to be safe.
The name “Romania,” which was first used when the three regions of the country were united in , reflects the influence of ancient Rome on the nation’s language and culture. The three regions—Walachia, Moldavia, and Transylvania—are relatively culturally uniform. An exception is the Hungarian community in Transylvania, which has its own language and traditions and considers itself Hungarian. The Roma Gypsies , who are scattered throughout the country, mostly in small camps on the outskirts of towns and cities, are in many ways culturally unassimilated.
Romania is in southeastern Europe at the north end of the Balkan peninsula, bordering Ukraine and Moldova to the north, Hungary to the northwest, Serbia to the southwest, Bulgaria to the south, and the Black Sea to the east.
Dating in different cultures October 21, 2: The conversation was spiked not just by the Pinot Grigio but also by the vast diversity in the living room. While the room burst into giggles, I pondered over how people have preconceived notions about other cultures and the fact that nothing has been done to substantially change these beliefs. One of the most common words used by our generation is dating.
It is also an easily worn out word. The concept has remained the same over several decades: While the skeleton of this definition may be applicable world-over, the connotations of the action are actually rather different from culture to culture. Different cultures look at almost everything with unique eyes, with a little overlap here and there. For example, both Indian and Italian cultures have a strong focus on family, despite being geographically distinct.
After the conversation with my friends, I decided to do a bit of my own research on dating trends, beginning with Arabic culture. My factual findings were very similar to what my Arab friend had to say as well — Arab girls are expected to lead conservative lives and are strictly required to obey the rules and regulations they have grown up following, despite the possibility of living in a different country away from home and family.
To ensure uniformity of thought process, I asked only girls ages , and the results were amusing, to say the least. My friend from Athens, Greece, straightforwardly called it being steady with a boy. Needless to say, these girls have been brought up in comparatively more conservative societies, as opposed to the New Yorker or the Londoner.

Courtship as a social activity dates back many centuries in history and commenced when monogamy was becoming the social norm in many cultures, prompting the men to actually woo and win the hand of their ideal mate in marriage.
Most cultures have unique dating and courtship rituals that are strictly follow, and the native Americans were no different in this. Native American dating was much different than we can even imagine. The culture at one time was much different than most people are familiar with. One of the main rituals that were involved in Native American dating was known as the Crane Dance. This dance was often when the women would dress up in bright clothing all decorated for the dance.
This was the point when men could get a good look at the available women since the dance usually lasted for a couple days. As the Crane dance went on usually a young man would see a woman that did strike his fancy. Unlike our current dating customs, the native American dating customs required that the young man speak to his mother who then would speak to the mother of the girl he was interested in. After the mothers have been spoken to the young man is told he is allowed to come to the lodge.
Usually he waits until everyone is sleeping and he makes a light and finds the girl he wants. Waking her up he then uses the light to illuminate his own face so she can see who he is. If she is happy with him she is to blow out his light and the next day he will be a part of the family.

Why and How Different Cultures Bury the Dead
Many believe that the reason for later marriages is the couples desire to finish their education and achieve economic stability. These are steps that were traditionally taken together by a husband and wife, but now many will not even consider marriage without ideal conditions. Divorce on the other hand is caused by a number of factors, but many of them are related to the lack of stability that Americans prefer to have before marriage.

If invited into a family home, it is traditional to bring a gift. A bottle of wine, a cake, chocolates or a bouquet of flowers is customary. Do not shake hands across the threshold of a door. It is considered bad luck. When shaking hands, take off your gloves.
The dating scene in Asia and Oz/NZ, is a lot more like a permanent job – that is, one at a time. This brings an interesting situation (to me) that “dating” becomes an high investment actactivity. (because it’s harder to just “go out and chill, and see how things goes”).
